The Music Company (TMC) and Musicians’ Club of San Diego recently announced an exciting new collaboration centered around their shared goals. This partnership is creating a reliable space for jam sessions for members of Musicians’ Club of SD but also continuing to encourage networking, playing and learning for artists in San Diego.

A Shared Mission: Supporting Musicians at Every Stage

Musicians’ Club began in 2011 as a high school club founded by a group of students who wanted a place to share and play music together. The Musicians’ Club of San Diego operating today was a chapter officially solidified in 2017. Cedric Agatep is one of the founding members, and originally created the organization as a way to get around the rules prohibiting him and his friends from performing on their school’s stage.

Over the years, it evolved into a citywide community, welcoming musicians of all skill levels and backgrounds. One of their main objectives is to get more individuals involved in music, so they can truly understand its importance and why they should be supporting local artists. Despite its growth, the club has often faced challenges in securing consistent, high-quality spaces for their jam sessions.

The Music Company, on the other hand, has built its reputation as a hub for musicians, offering professional rehearsal rooms, recording spaces, and a supportive environment for artists to refine their craft. Founded on the idea of making music accessible, TMC has become a trusted space for local musicians looking for a dedicated place to practice and collaborate.

Recognizing their shared vision, TMC and Musicians’ Club of San Diego officially joined forces in early 2025 to create a structured, consistent place for musicians to come together.

How the Partnership Works

The idea for the collaboration started when Ted from TMC reached out to Musicians’ Club of San Diego, inviting them to use the space for jam sessions. In the past, the club had struggled to secure venues that were both welcoming and well-equipped. By teaming up with TMC, they finally found a place where musicians could reliably meet. The first jam session at TMC took place in January 2025, with 11 musicians in attendance.

Key benefits of this collaboration include:

  • Consistent jam sessions: Musicians now have a reliable location to meet, practice, and play together.
  • Access to professional equipment: TMC provides high-quality gear and rehearsal space, elevating the experience for musicians.
  • A welcoming atmosphere: Musicians’ Club of San Diego has created an environment where players of all levels feel encouraged to participate.
  • More opportunities to network: Beyond jam sessions, the partnership fosters a sense of community through social events and shared experiences.

Creating an Inclusive Music Community

One of the biggest challenges for musicians—especially those new to the scene—is finding a welcoming space where they can comfortably develop their skills. To make jam sessions less intimidating, the club also hosts casual social gatherings where musicians can connect before playing together. These events allow members to form friendships, discuss music, and build confidence in a low-pressure setting before stepping into a session. If Jam Sessions aren’t your vibe, but you’re still looking for a way to connect with a music community, Musicians’ Club of San Diego also hosts other events like Open Mics, and even performances throughout San Diego as a community band. Check out the links at the end of this article on how to get involved with any of the other events that they offer.

Looking to the Future

With this partnership off to a strong start, both TMC and Musicians’ Club of SD are looking ahead to new ways they can support local artists. Musicians’ Club is developing a membership program that will offer exclusive perks, such as discounted tickets to local events, merchandise, and early access to special sessions.

Meanwhile, TMC continues to provide a space for these sessions, helping musicians access professional-level resources without financial barriers. As the partnership expands, the goal is to offer even more opportunities, from workshops and mentorship programs to live performances and collaborative recording projects.

There is a lot to look forward to with this collaboration, so stay tuned for upcoming jam sessions, social events!
